I have an old Stoner Junior candy machine and was wanting to get it restored. Anyone have any info or web sites for color schemes or what type of paint to use? What about the insides, like the snack rack? Thanks for any info! Corey

paint and restoration theme, really comes to the owner.. Pick some colors you like, there are alot of reference photos online, just google Stoner Jr and you'll get lots of ideas... most look best in a 50's color scheme, but just depends on your taste, as far as kind of paint? there are so many, and your painter I'm sure has a favorite to work with... Good luck!

Corey,

Welcome to the site.  Looks like a nice original Junior there.  I personally prefer the original colors and have a Stoner 180 that matches your Junior.  Some of the 50's theme restorations look great as well but my preference is still to keep them looking original.

Good luck with your resto.  You can get a lot of good advice and hlep from the members of this board--just ask.

I personally prefer the hammertone green machines. I think they look the best for the original colors. I also prefer the more simple original color machines.

My favorite is the Hammertone Burnt Orange Color... Been trying to find it to restore my next on in...

Either way, choice is yours...

Not a big fan of the original colors. That's why you see them restored in many different colors. Once you restore it or repaint it the machine is no longer original anyway. I would paint it the color of your favorite car.

One more question about my Stoner machine. What needs to be done to the candy rack? Take it apart completely and paint it or what? If "what", with what kind of paint?

I don't think anybody does anything to the rack but clean it. Seen many restored, racks are left alone.

Frank (ducattihummer) did a complete tear down and paint job on the rack of his Stoner Theater with gum wheel.  Here is the link:

Excellent pictures of the restoration and a great job all the way around. happydrinkers I'm not sure if I will be that brave when I get around to my Stoners.  Although, I will probably do the works on my Stoner Jr with gum wheel!

I've restored a few. I media blast all the parts and then spray the rack and gates with silver hammertone. Every 5th gate gets painted red.
