I would like to find a key for the Ideal 55 I picked up but there is no number visible on the lock.

All it says is Chicago lock Co. around the outside and ace in the center:

Sometimes the number is on the cylinder; sometimes it is on the bezel and sometimes there just isn't one.
Remove the lock from the coin box and look all over it. I use a little hand held magnifying glass as my eyes are old!

Collecture you are very helpful and I appreciate it as always.

I should have said that the mech is locked and firmly attached to the ideal 55.

There are lock picking sets out there
or
maybe a locksmith could pick it for you

I'd just drill it out and forget about it!

So drill it out with a good sized bit and replace the whole lock?

Not worth taking it to a locksmith and I can barely pick my nose properly much less a lock... laugh

I would drill it out as well!
Start with a smaller bit, say 1/8" - 3/16" and then get larger with each hole until the tumblers fall out or you can use a flat-headed screwdriver to rotate the back of the lock so it unlocks.

My six cents,

Thanks Jim for the details.

I know for you guys that know what you are doing "drill it out" makes perfect sense but for a complete newb it
can still be confusing. I'll give it a try next time I go to my storage shed!
