While I have been too busy working to make any progress on the few machines I already have I bought this one for 35$ the other day (does that make me crazy too?).

It's a funny looking thing but I thought I'd use it to hold drinks in the garage not to restore.
Does anyone have a picture of this model in good shape? Any idea what was in the top panel? Something was there but has gone missing.

It cools and has been set up to free vend with the coin return lever (seems like a clever way to do it to me). I need one shelf and a new lock (keys lost but door is open). The bottle door spring doesn't keep the door closed tight either. I assume the damaged door would be impossible to fix as well. I just want to get it cleaned up and serviceable.

Any insights or info would be greatly appreciated!

Bill

Your machine is an early model Vendorlator 56. This is the machine that came just after the transition machines. I have attached a picture of a Vendorlator 56 that is similar that I had a while back. My machine had a light up sign. Yours originally had a small plastic sign attached to it that said Pepsi. The damage to the front door will be hard to fix. It is just an aluminum cover. It is painted blue under the aluminum so you can just remove the aluminum panel and it will look good. You have a nice machine. They are great working machines. It will look good in you garage cleaned up and vending.

Thanks loman. Good to know i can just remove the aluminum on the door. Does that go for the upper panel as well where the pepsi sign was?

I can't see the picture you attached and would very much like to.

I don't see the sense in running a big machine just to hold drinks for me so this looked like a good option. The lock is different then the few others I have seen.

Will that be hard to find? how about the shelf?

The bezel around the opener is in 2 parts too.

I just picked up this same machine...the plastic emblem on the front was missing also. I was able to get a decal off of Ebay that's looks a little like the emblem. The guy is selling nine inch decals and I asked him to make me a four inch decal so it would fit in the center of the little pegs that are still left behind (where the emblem attached). I think it was under $10 with shipping. I will try to get you a picture.

Thanks!

Are you going to make an emblem or cover the holes with the decal? Does your machine have the same aluminum overlays?

here is the picture I was talking about. I just put the sticker in between the posts. It's not my favorite machine, so the fact that it's not perfect or originally correct doesn't bother me.

They are good solid machines.  I took one years ago that was in rough condition and turned it into a beer machine, it turned out nice. I originally planned on selling it, but I liked it so much I ended up keeping it.

Here is the machine that I had. They made this style machine in both a 56 and an 81. The internal parts for this machine are the same as the other model V56's so parts are very easy to find.

Thanks guys for al the input and pics! They really help to picture what is possible.

Having seen them I don't think of my machine as so ugly after all.

Anything else?

That bud machine came out SWEET. I may have to make one of those for the garage.
