I was given an almost full roll of R13 faced. Do you think I can use this to insulate my squaretop 56. I will remove the face and then double up the insulation. What are your thoughts because I know you guys use r19 but its a shame to waste a whole roll of free insulation. Thanks

I'm sure someone else will chime in also but I cant see it being a problem. I always buy faced insulation and remove the paper as I have found that it is cheaper. Just get as much insulation in there as you can. It will condensate if you miss any areas.

I haven’t restored a square top 56 but I’ll bet you’ll be fine with R-13.  Remember insulation works by trapping pockets of air. When insulation is compressed, it can no longer insulate and it’s R valve is dimished.  If the R19 is too thick and you stuff it in there anyway, it’s proably about the same as using R13.
