Ok everyone, it's my turn to seek a little help... I had someone recently contact me wanting help to identify a cooler they had. Well after a few questions and answers, I knew I did know what they had so I asked for a few photos via email. These can be seen at the link below. Apparently, the coin mech cover has Ideal on it, but I have no idea what model this is... Anyone come across this slider before...? Check out the hinge, it's a rubber! Compressor is on the left and is a very unusual installation! Unusual Slider

I'd definatly agree its' an ideal.. Thinking an 85 with a home made top. , as far as the compressor location? hmm that is strange that it is open on the front?

Looks like a version of the Canadian Ideal manufacturer, but I have only seen them with square corners.

Yeah looks like the size of a 85 with a 35 cap catcher on it?... you can see where a grate or door pannel goes under the cap catcher. The lids reminds of the RC Kelvanators with their rubber hinges. handel looks like the type you find on a Western Electric Coke cooler. Non-embossed... Early 50s?

Jim, What does that compressor ID plate say? Anything useful like Kelvinator of Canada or something?

What does that compressor ID plate say? I'll email them back and see if I can get additional info on this... My initial thoughts were Canadian too, but something wasn't quite right... I think the lid may be original though... I'll get back to you... Thanks ! ! !

They responded with the following refrigeration information: jim looked on the tag here's what i found NORGE DIVISION BORG - WARNER CORPORATION Detroit 26, MICH. USA I'm leaning toward an early Canadian model similar to the Ideal 500A

Looks like a very early Ideal 500 series, is it embossed? you can see the original stainless steel trim piece along the front lip of the top, & a Norge cooling unit!!! too funny! (the Saturday night live skit with the "Norge" refrigerator repairman)

Spoon-feeding Newbies since 2001... Yeah..220,221 whatever it takes. Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon! The Vendo V-83 is the '59 Edsel of the coke machine world. ;p Spray painting does NOT restore a compressor 11 is louder than 10... "Hope" is good, but it's not an action plan.

They didn't say if the letters are embossed, but looking closely at the photos would indicate no embossing. Good detection on the SS Trim along the front lip!
Thanks for the input everyone!
