Just won this on eBay! Figured it was worth the price just for the NOS small door mech. Pics are from the auction. Still has the wood shipping braces attached to it. Anybody know what it comes from? It is some sort of nickel/dime change-giving mech to something! No idea of measurements until I get it.

I would guess that this came from a 50's vintage candy machine or maybe even a misc. vendor such as pencil's, tampons, eyeglass wipes something of that nature.

I am leaning towards an old candy machine or possible a cigar vendor. It appears too large for a small vendor and is from an upright machine like the National cig machines (I don't think they were ever a nickel or dime though) or Stoners (doesn't look like any of the Stoner mechs I've seen). I'll know more when I get it in. As I said, I think it was worth the $85 total price just for the NOS SD rejector. Those usually sell for $125-$150. I'll see the mech used somewhere/someday!

Well, I got the mech in the mail and it is still packaged in the original shipping box... and the box says the shipper is... Walter H. DuGrenier, Inc. So I guess it is a NOS DuGrenier Cigarette machine mech!

I found an old post (2006) of Sodaworks referring to a DuGrenier candy machine (he was supposed to p/u) and I'm leaning towards that machine as the one it belongs to. I just can't see cigarettes costing 5 or 10 cents a pack and this has a nickel/dime rejector in it.

Tom, Called Dad. He said a pack of smokes was 25 cents and 10 at the PX early 50's. Creighton
