I just picked up my new toy, it's a Stoner Cafe. I'm just curious if any one has a manual, schematic, or cleaning instructions.
One thing that surprised me that is that it has a coin mech that apparently will take quarters, dime, nickels, or pennies (5 or ten pennies). It is a ten cent machine. It has various change tubes on the door. I haven't gotten into it much yet. Just checked it out to see if it was all there. I'm guessing that it is. Next years project after the Mills 400c.
One other thing that surprised me is that the boiler operates at 75 PSI. I believe pressure cookers only work up to 15 PSI. In Chicago, after 15 psi you need a stationary engineers license to operate a boiler. At 75 PSI the temperature of the water is 320 F. If there was a leak and that superheated vapor hits your body, it will slice you like a knive. Plus there's always a chance of an explosion. I wonder how trustworthy fifty year old safety's are. I'm sure it has to at least have a pop off valve.
I also wonder how the coffee would be made with out a filter? Did they have instant coffee back then??
Has anyone evr used one of these?

That sounds like a neat machine. Can you post some pictures? I have never heard of a machine taking pennies. I'd like to see that coin mech.

Sound like that's going to be a fun project. I haven't seen or heard about any literature concerning any of the Stoner's except for their candy machines. Maybe Curtis will chime in with some knowledge or advice. Can't wait to see the pictures!

Hi Brian, I left a personal message to Jeff Wolf (he has a working machine), Harrison (the manual collector), and Curtis (who restored jeff's Cafe), we'll see what happens. Hopefully, there is some information floating around.  The only thing I saw was some guy on Ebay has two copies of literature. One ad and one brochure. |

Appears to be a 5800 series NRI rejector in it with a set of PNDQ switches below the coin exit.
Pretty cool looking.
