Okay, folks. I've decided it's time for me to let everybody know that I am the proud owner of a Nichol Kola Quikold Standard !

Yeah, the one that is full of bullet holes.  darn

I know it does need a lot of work but knowing how helpful everybody is on this website, I know it'll be fixed somehow. It's time for me to get cracking on it and start on this project.  biggrin

Apparently it consists of the four panels, the bottle opener and the four corner pieces to hold down the rubber molding on the top beneath the lids. So, I need the entire base to attach the side panels, the lids, the support brackets to hold up the "ice box", the ice box itself, rubber molding for the lids and anything else I'm not aware of at this point.

Eric - you mentioned a while ago that you have a friend that owns a generic Quickold Standard for sale at $200. Does he still have it ?  hopefull I'd like to buy as it'll make this project much easier to get started as far as getting the missing parts of my Quickold Standard.

This is funny, Eric and I were talking about this machine the other night on the phone. Wondering what ever happened to it.

Wow! Yeah Joey and I was just talking about that one
I didn't remember the front panel....do you have the back panel?...
 it would be non-embossed...
Don't know if his had lids but I do remember it it was a
non-embossed Nehi... I'll check with him... I'll give you the
my lettering for it... I'm picking up the vinyl/masking material
tomorrow for the embossing....the sides sould be the same.... but I
don't know about the front panel embossing....
Man what about the missing embossing due to the holes?
That is gonna be a project but I bet it can be done....
I'm going to use 81 door gasket along the top for mine due to the
orignal stuff isn't made abd would cost a few thousand dollars to have
100 of feet made so I'll skip that for now.
Not all Quikolds had the little corner pieces... and since those aren't made
either I'd skip those too for now.....
Where are you located state wise?

Those panels could be easily restored with hot spray zinc metalizing ( think of a combination of a mig-welder & a spray can) it would fill the missing areas & holes with solid metal (unlike lead which is soft) this method has been used successfully on rotted out panels on collectable cars.

there's a shop here locally who does it, along with media blasting ( plastic & glass-bead & soda blasting) the hot spray zinc metalizing will not distort or warp the metal like hot dip galvanizing or lead-work, as for durability, zinc is harder than iron.

It can be done!

Yeah, I do have the back panel. I just didn't bother taking a pic of it as it isn't embossed. BTW, it does not have any bullet holes in it and is almost in perfect condition. Don't see it needing much of any body work.   smile

The lettering you have for your Nichol Kola Quikold Junior is going to be much appreciated. I knew that members of this website are going to be very helpful.  biggrin
