Those Who Stay Will be Champions!

« on: May 31, 2008, 05:30:20 pm »

My sons will be out of school in two weeks so it is time to start planning the V-39 restoration.  I am still in need of some parts to get it working before I tear it down for soda-blasting, painting and re-finishing.  I have been watching E-Bay and CL for a parts machine but nothing has come up.  I am getting ready to place an order with Steve at Funtronics; however, I thought I would put out a message on the off chance that someone has spare parts they need to unload.

Here is what I need:

Indexing Mechanism
Drum Release Wire Assembly
Evaporator Shroud Extension

Like to get but not necessary:

Push Bar and Casters for back of machine

Other questions that I have thus far:

1.  Would I be able to find something at my local hardware that would work for the basket washers and retaining ring?  If so what size are they?

2.  For the main door gasket, I noticed that Steve sells gasket material by the foot and he also has a re-pro pre-formed gasket.  Any suggestion to go with one or the other from those that have done a V-39?

3.  Above the coin slot my machine has the faint remnants of a decal that said

Do Not Use
Canadian Coins

Did not see this in the Funtronics catalog.  Anybody know if this one is available out there?  I would like to put that back on as that is one all the vending machines here in Michigan.

Thats it for now but I am sure that a lot of other questions will come up along the way.

Thanks for any assistance.

Tim

Tim, can't help on the parts, but the  Do Not Use Canadian Coins  decal I made myself.
If you have MS Word, Try Arial Black, 36 point.   A few bucks at  OfficeMax for waterslide decal paper (I think it was !0 bucks for 10 sheets, used less than a quarter, and have a lifetime supply left.

My 39 also had that warning, and i will add it  to my 81, guewss it's a Michigan thing  biggrin

I've seen a few of the rear fan shrouds being offered on eBay in the past 6 months - one recently.
Can't remember whether somebody was making them or original.

Here it is:

Maybe call the seller - Lloyd at Coinopwarehouse - 703-801-1459 and see if he has another

Kilroy,

Thanks for the tip on the decal.  That will probably be the easiest way to get that done.

Collecture,

I've got the shroud for the back of the machine.  I need the one that goes over the evaporater fan inside the cabinet.

Bubba,

You are correct about the orientation of the machine!   laugh  Took the shot with my cell phone and did not take the time to right the ship!

Thanks guys!

One more question:

1.  Some of the V-39 that I have seen have a loading instruction "wheel" in the middle of the basket and some don't.  Is this part available?  I have to admit that I have not scoured the Funtronics catalog and Steve might have that in there somewhere.

Fun-Tronics definately carries that - measure HxW and call Steve. Why would you want an original of it?

It is actually two plates - the "some don't" ones are just missing it I bet! I might have an extra, but I'll have to look - I think the post hole (on the plates) are bent up though.

With regard to the gasket... I'd go for the pre-formed... Just a bit easier and not a great deal more expensive..

I restored my 39 a few years ago and i put the back cover on it to make it complete. The "Disks" on the vending wheel i had but made some anyway. If you need some decals to go over your old one, LMK,

I received some of the parts for my V-39 restoration.  Still waiting on the indexing mech and basket release wire.  In the meantime, I thought I would start putting the other parts on the machine.  One item is a new lock for the coin door.  I have the original lock bar but it is bent a little due to a prior owner prying open the coin door.  I will need to straighten it out.

help Can someone with V-39 please post some pictures of the lock assembly on the machine so I can have a look? hopefull  My boys want to get started on the restoration!

THANKS!
