Hi we are working on trying to get the light fixture to work in the box, we have noriced what looks to be a place to hold a fuse, or something, any idea what this part is?

This is where the "starter" goes. Pic attached. Leviton is the brand here (chopped in the pics). Should be able to find at any home remodel store (Lowes, Home Depot etc..)
