I've been taking pics as we go along, and posting them at Flickr to document the whole project, so let me skip ahead to it's current state:
I am most proud of the front bottom of the cabinet. Most of the original wood was missing due to rot and termite buffets, so a full template wasn't available. the bottom front is veneered, so you can't see the half dozen pieces that were glued together then sanded to get the shape right.
The cabinet is red oak, with one coat of stain (it is mentioned in my attempt to be humorous in another thread, and yes, this is a self promo
) The only veneer is the bottom front bezel and the side edges
And while i cringe when i see Cavalier coolers converted to couches or trailers, I couldn't see putting back the chrome pilasters that came from the factory. So while I am usually a pursst, I went with animated light units and white pilasters. I think it was/is a good choice
