You see them most often on Jacobs 26, 160 and 35's, I have one Jacobs with a one cent box and another with a 2 cent box..........  but you are right, it shouldn't affect the price of the box much if at all.

Looks very similar the the coin boxes that were found on most early "Kiddie Rides".

I was talking on the phone earlier with a guy from Summit, MS. He called me looking for a V44 mech, which I do not have. Anyway, we were talking for about 30 minutes. He was telling me about some of the stuff he has and stories of old.
He has (1 of 100 made he says) orange juice machines where you fill a hopper with fresh oranges and you can watch the oranges go through an automatic squeezing process as it vends you a cup of fresh orange juice. Also recounted a story of ("I think it was 1961... the boss said "Get rid of all that junk!" and he took 100's of extinct penny boxes to the dump along with a room full of outdated signs with the wrong slogans).

Did you ever see a grown man cry? I shivered at the thought of all this happening. Where is the dump? oh

I got his email address and sent an email, so maybe???
I did express interest in seeing his stuff...he sounded older on the phone and even if he was 15 when he was working there, that would put him in his 70's.
Very nice guy...loved to talk about the "old' days.

I'd love to see the inner workings of a machine like that ! ! !
It would probably be similar to looking at a Vendo Decapper.
A little over engineered and a repair nightmare...

He said it didn't go over well and never "made it". I would imagine it would have been a high maintenance machine - change out the fresh oranges every couple of days and cleaning up sticky orange juice.

Sounds like a mess for sure. Along similiar lines, I have a Vendo brochure that advertises the Vendo 210 Orange Juice Machine that was supposed to vend Tropicana Orange Juice, Has anybody ever actually seen a real machine in person or photos?
