Hello,
2 questions here.
First, what is the insulation in most 50's machines made of? Like what would be in a Vendo 44.
Second, What are most people replacing this stuff with? I thought about using spray foam, but worry about the expansion of it.
Thanks,
Marvin

The original stuff I've seen has all been fiberglass or rock wool. I considered spray stuff a year ago but the risk of expansion damage was too high. I'd stick with fiberglass as it's the best $ for R value deal. I did use melamine foam though in a more moisture prone area as it doesn't turn to muck.
