I know basically nothing about this mech. from my newly aquired 81A..   It currently free vends - no coin required. I believe this is a 5 cent mech.  How do I adjust it so a nickel is required to operate it ?  Hopefully a simple remedy - like I said I am very green on this.  Thanks in advance...Bob

Hey Bob,

You'll notice where the "blue" arrow is pointing that the pawl that keeps the mech from rotating is being held in the "up" position. This is done with a screw located where the yellow arrow is pointing; along the side there is a 6-32 screw hole(s) that when a screw is tightened, it will lift the arm/pawl that keeps the mech from vending when no coins are present. Once the proper coin(s) are deposited, the coin will lift the locking pawl and allow the vend cycle...

Excellent description Jim!
Usually there is an oval hole in the mech plate allowing access to the pawl screws.
Ouch!
Be careful of that mech heater if the machine is plug in - those get hot!

Thanks Jim,  I found the screw and yes it lowered the pawl and the mech will not releae.  New Problem -  the coin (nickel) sticks just under the spring - above the right side of the heater.  Any Ideas Huh?Huh??  Thanks in advance again... Do I need the heater Huh?

No - you do not need the heater. It was intended for cold weather climates and outdoor use - water would seep in the coin entry bezel and freeze on the rejector if it (the heater) was not present.
If properly installed/attached, the heater should not interfere with the nickel path. I'd clean the rejector!
