I HAVE A CAVALIER MACHINE  MODEL 099 64FS THAT I PURCHASED ABOUT 6 YEARS AGO. IT WAS IN MINT CONDITION AND I BOUGHT IT FOR $350. IT HAS WORK PERFICTLY UNTIL ABOUT 5 DAYS AGO WHEN I DISCOVERED THAT THE MACHINE WAS NOT CYCLING AS NORMAL AND  THE DRINKS WERE NOT AS COLD AS NORMAL. WHEN I OPENED THE MACHINE , I SAW THAT THE SMALL REFRIGERANT LINE WAS CAKED IN ICE. I SHUT IT OFF TO DEFROST. WHEN I STARTED IT BACK UP THE LINE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN FROSTING UP AND I SHUT IT OFF AGAIN. . AFTER 2 DAYS I STARTED IT BACK UP TO FIND THAT NOW IT IS NOT COOLING AT ALL. I ASSUME IT IS EITHER LOW ON FREON OR THE COMPRESSOR HAS BIT THE DUST. CAN THESE UNITS BE RECHARGED AT ALL? SINCE IT HAS FREON R 12, I AM WONDERING WHAT TO EXPECT. ANY INFO WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Are both of your fans working?
Might be that your T-stat went bad too!

Yes the upper fan motor may be shot or just turning too slow.

I CHECKED BOTH FAN MOTORS AND BOTH ARE WORKING FINE. NOT SURE ABOUT THE THERMOSTAT. IS THERE A WAY TO CHECK TO SEE IF IT IS WORKING RIGHT? NOT TOO SAVY ON ALL THE MECHANICS. I DID CLEAN THE COOLING COILS TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP BUT NO CHANGE. BEFORE I TURNED THE MACHINE OFF A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO BECAUSE IT WAS NOT COOLING, THE COMPRESSOR WAS REALLY HOT TO THE TOUCH. IS THAT NORMAL?

You may have a blockage in your refrigeration line. Means a discharge
and then a new filter and freon.
