On the compressor(self contained) for the Ideal model 85 what should the low side pressure be. I am getting frost on about 3 inch of the line that goes into the evaporator. The rest of the suction line is getting cool. The compressor gets pretty warm and will cut on and off in about 15 to 20 second cycles. I have the unit pulled out of the machine to do all this checking.

                 Thanks,
                   Tommy

do you mean the tiny capillary tube, or the evaporator coils themselves?

is there a factory or brazed-on  service port on the low side of your system? or is a clamp-on style?

Someone put a tap on the low side line. The line that is freezing up is where the capillary tube goes into the 1/4 inch line that goes into the evapator. My low side reading when it is running is about 10 psi. When I cut it off it rises to around 60 psi.
       Thanks for any help,

on the bench, warm area, you should be running about 16-20
on your low side. that unit has no shrouds so the air flow won't
be as efficient as say a Vendo unit.

machine reinstalled, cooler temperature @40 degrees you should be looking at around 5-7 psi or so.
