Reed electromech coin changer

It's NOS and I'm thinking of getting it to replace my NRI model D7701 that's apparently dying on me. My concerns are:
1. Is the Electromech too "new"? I know it'll work in my Vendo 144E but I'm trying to keep everything within the right time period for my machine. Does anyone know when this model was manufactured?
2. Does Electromech make good changers? I've never heard of the company before.
Thanks
