Evap fan sticking

Hello all,

 The evap fan in my CSS-64FS occasionally sticks. It will work fine for days then one day I go to get a soda and it has stopped and the evap has iced up. I can take the cover off and spin the blades by hand and it starts back up. I tried shooting the shaft with a little WD40 but it didn't seem to help. Any way to fix this or will I need to replace the fan motor?

On a different note. How often should the compressor come on? Mine seems to kick on fairly frequently. The temp gets down to the mid to upper 30's and my thermostat's set mid-range.

I think you should just pull the Refrigeration unit & install two new fans.  One for the evaporator & one at the compressor. This would be a good time to clean the two coils.

You can buy the fans from the website sponsors or you can buy them at your local AC supply company for about $20-25 dollars each.

Replace the fan motor save your self the headache ,
As far as the compressor coming on alot you may want to
run this by Eric over at Global Compressor , this is his area
of perfection.

I concur with the fans. Had the same problem with my V-39. Replaced the fan and (fingers crossed) it has run proper ever since.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I figured I would have to replace the fan but it never hurts to ask.

While you got the whole cooling system out, I'd go ahead and replace both fans and the T-stat.
Then you don't have to worry about them for a long time to come.
A compressor should kick on 2-3 times in an hour.

I cleaned the coils when I first got the machine. I took the deck out and cleaned it all up. I also put a new thermostat in since the original was broken. When I get the new fan in I'll have to see how often the compressor kicks on. I thought it was a lot but 2-3 times an hour seems like what it was doing. Thanks again everybody '>
