I got a restored mech/rejector for my 81D.When I put a nickel in it goes through great and lands in the slot on the crank mech like it should but the crank handle will not turn. When I manually place a nickel and a dime in the appropriate slots the crank handle will then be allowed to turn. When I put a nickel in and then another one the 2nd on just rests on top of the 1st one.Anyone know what could be the problem ? Thanks !

What you have is a 5, 10, or 15 cent mech. There is a dog for the nickel slot and a dog for the dime slot. A coin needs to be in each slot before you will be able to crank the handle over. The dogs are those levers with a spring behind them that are just to the right of the coin slots - they prevent the crank from turning unless coins are used. The are two screw holes on the right side of the mech lined up with the bottom of the dogs (I think they are threaded 6x32). Get two 3/8 inch screws and screw them in the screw holes. You can screw them both all the way in and have a free vend mech - you can screw just the 5 cent dog screw all the way in and have a dime mech - you can screw just the 10 cent dog screw all the way in and have a nickel mech or you can leave it the way it is and have a fifteen cent mech. When you screw the screws in, you will see the corresponding dog lift up off of the crank shaft.
