We just purchased a VMC 33 and are wondering how to tell if it is a Coke or a Pepsi machine. It has Pepsi stickers and is painted blue but looks as though it was red at one time. Any assistance would be appreciated as this will be our first restoration.

Pepsi 33's were embossed.
Most likely, with the red I can see around the coin door, it was a Coke originally.
Coke did not emboss the 33's and neither did Dr. Pepper.
You could turn it into either one and it would be "correct".
Dr. Pepper usually had a sign on their machines, so you would have to come up with a sign.

Dr. Pepper 33's look really sharp. I love the paint scheme. The contrast between the green and the brick red of the sign really pops.

Tom's right... Pepsi's were embossed so were 7ups (I think...
logo was embossed above the VMC decal along the bottom of the door.)
This was a Coke originally! Nice straight looking machine!
If you restore it, keep us to date! We love pictures around here!

Glad to hear that it's a Coke machine since for novices like us it seems to have more parts readily available.

Thank you for the help...I'm sure we'll be back with more questions!

I don't think parts would be too much of an issue.

I would definately consider the Doctor Pepper Colour scheme.
Remember this will NOT be your only machine. Once you have done one
you will have been bitten and before you know it one will be two and then they breed, they are worse than rabbits.

There are some very knowledgable people (I'm not one i'm afraid)  only too willing to see you suceed so just ask away.

I thought Vendo's were Coke and Vendorlator's were off-brands.

Vendo never made any of the 27's, 27A's, 33's or 72's.
They were all VMC aka Vendorlator.
