Do your own chrome?

Chrome/Gold platingI forgot to say I had thought of buying the kit when I lived in Daytona. If you are plating new stuff that is smooth the electro plate kits work great. I was going to do it for daytona Bike week. There were always several vendors doing that there. They were always packed. It works good for small parts. So if any of you buy one of the electro plating kits someone could make a killing going to car shows and cruise ins on the weekends chroming emblems and small pieces. You would have people lined up to have parts chromes and you can do gold too. the best thing is you can do it on the car and there is no prep work. This is the same process that dealerships use to add gold packages to their cars.

Just the other day my daughter brought their catalog home from her autobody class. A rep did a demo with the products both out of the can and out of a gun. She said the stuff was pretty cool and I think she said on one product you powder coat black, spray the chrome and then powder coat clear.
She is doing a pedal car for the Seattle Roadster Show for the school, and they are going to use the Chrome spray on the grille and bumper parts. I'll let you know how it turns out.

do what you want just remember you
get what you pay for.

Pat my Mom has a fully restored mustang pedal car she might want to sell if you are interested. It was NOS but UPS damaged it in shipping so we had it fully restored. We even used the origional correct color red with the correct laquor.

By the way,
There is nothing like real chrome or freshly polished aluminum!
This product might be innovative and cool to use on small projects. But I wouldn't use it to replace real chrome plating.

Roger, see if you can get them to spray a small
extra part for us.  Then when she brings it home and it's cured, we can give it a "durability test".

I had some hinges powder coated chrome and they looked great. But it still doesn't look as good as chrome.

I also seen the electro plating chrome done on plastic at the SEMA show. Looked good on plastic.
