I saw this ad for a company who make a do it yourself chrome kit... Its no the cheapest to give it a try, but has anyone heard of this company or their products?? Its in the back of the magazine where all the other gimmick ads like hovercrafts and build your own stun guns, etc....
The company's website is.... http://www.alsacorp.com/ and the stuff I am talking about is called true chrome kit.

Never heard of it or tried it. Looks to be a basecoat / enamel paint in a can with a can of clearcoat.

You looked him up - huh? He's the guy that had the Lyon's machine or maybe he was the bogus seller - I can't remember.

The new car busness has been using portable chrome and gold plating systems for several years now. They plate hood ornaments, door handles etc. in place by hooking a machine that looks similar to a battery charger to the part. The product is applied electromagneticly and is quite expensive per ounce. Unless I missed something..........this company is selling $5.00 aerosol cans of "mexican chrome" for $40.00 each ! '>

I have thought about buying the electro chrome kits a few times. They do produce great finishes and are alot cheeper than commercial chroming. You can even chrome plastic parts with it. But here is the catch. The reason that chroming parts is so expensive is chroming is just like painting. The final product is only as good as the prep work. There is alot of prep that goes into chrome plating. Especially if there is any pitting. SO if you are planning on chroming new emblems on cars where they are new and shiny the product will look great, If you are plating a pitted coin entry bezel the outcome will just be a shinier pitted bezel.
