Newb needs some help

Hey guys this is my first post and I am a real newbie.  We got this vending machine a few years back and unfortunatly it was broken when it was shipped to us and I've decided that I wanted to fix it up and repaint it.  I was wondering if anyone can id the machine to help me research it more.  Also does anybody have any good websites to teach you how to fix the compressors.  We had a guy come and appraise the machine to see how much it was going to cost to fix it and he said something about the piston being bent or loose.  Does anyone know anything about that either?  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the board! Fixing compressors requires special tools and knowledge. Not really a do it yourself project. Suggest you give Eric at Global a call.

The machine is made by seaga. They are still in business and still make that model I think. You might just be able to but a replacement unit. Don't just buy a compressor try to buy the entire cooling system.

Now if I would get an enitre new cooling system how much more is that than just the compressor and how hard would it be to install either one of those.  Thanks for the replies.

I had a few of those a while back. If I remember right the cooling system is really compact and comes out in one piece. I would suggest you contact seaga and get a manual for the machine first and read up on it. It might not need a new cooling system after all. It could be a bad fan motor or a thermostat. You should get a manual and go through the trouble shooting steps first. I will be the first to say I really dont know anything about those little machines but they seemed to be pretty basic.

Ok after some quick research it looks like your machine might be a Seaga BV155 or at least something similar. Here is a link to the PDF manual

Agree, Eric is the authority on this subject, but you mentioned this was damage during a move? Did you
drop the machine on the highway?    That piston is pretty well enclosed and hard to damage!  Do you hear a knocking sound like a broken wristpin?

Thank you for the manual im gonna have to read up on it.  I dont know how it broke but when UPS delivered it apparantly they broke it.  Yes when the compressor actually turns on it works but it sounds like there is something loose just spinning around, similiar to a knocking sound.  It works fine but it is loud.  I emailed seaga and they said it would cost 90 for the compressor and 200 for the entire cooling system.  Do you still think its a good idea to get the entire cooling system or just the compressor.  Thanks for your replies guy you've been a real help.

If the compressor works & cools but you hear a sound knocking I would think you just have a bent fan blade or maybe a bent shaft on the fan motor. or fan blade hitting something inside the cabinet.

Have you opened the machine & plugged it in to see where the noise is coming from?  

Bent compressor-  No way

This sounds like a simple fix.
