Ok, I've asked this before and thought I was a pretty good judge on prices.. but now have seen some v81's going for lower than normal money, or am I just wrong. There is one for a buy it now on ebay for a buy it now of 1700.00?? complete, straight and partially sanded down. Looks like it just needs paint and some minor parts and cleanup and ready to rock!?? Is this a good price, or are these starting to drop? It's close enough to me that makes me think I should jump on it? Through some paint on it, clean it up, redo the insulation, wiring, etc... and be able to sell it for 3k? I"m I wrong with this scenario or is it priced too high?? it's a 81D so maybe that has something to do with it? I just get excited when they are close to me as I save on shipping... Thoughts, suggestions?

One just sold for $1,800.00 BIN I keep a close eye on the 81s. I dont think the prices have crashed just a bad time of the year. I have one that should be here in the next week or so i'll be asking $1,800.00 on it, Or may trade for a 44 project. But why not go to the next level on that 81 and do it right and price it at $6k. I have a buddy thats getting $7k for them now and they are selling.

Here is one that just ended, it didnt meet reserve but it went high. Maybe because it was a fairly nice original or because it was involved in shill bidding.

I have no problem putting the right stuff into it and redoing it complete, but always afraid of getting my money plus a little extra out of it... Even if I made 500 - 1000 on it I'd think that would be fair as I enjoy messing with them. 7k really!!! wow... is he anyone we know??

I get 6500.00 for my 81's. The consumable parts alone to fully restore one run around 500.00 bucks. Plus paint and supplies, chrome and polishing. if you bought it for 1700.00 you'd be in it for at least 2700.00-2800.00 when restored.

I sold a very nice restored Pepsi 81 about a year ago for $7000.00. The guy was local and paid in cash.

Thanks, I talked to the guy with the one that didn't sell for 2250. he has a reserve of 2500 on it... and it looks to be a nice orignal...he won't budge. Found a few more locally so we'll see where those go... When it rains it pours... '>
