As I mentioned in a previous post I have started restoring my Junior.  This is the electric model which has cooling grill that goes in the stainless tank.  My question is what did the bottle sit on? Is there supposed to be something that sat above the cooling grill?

The machine is pretty complete.  The compressor was frozen but the electric motor with fan still worked.  Can you rebuild these compressors or should it be replaced with something more modern?

I also need a cap catcher?

Any input about this machine would be great!

Thanks

Doug

Soda Jerk Works or Funtronics may carry it.

Thanks Doug,  you're making me think I really need to get working on my Junior again, time to wirte Collecture about doing a restore on the coin mech....

The bottles sat in in a rack that hung from  the backside of the cooler, and above the cooling coils. I've seen repops on Ebay, around $150.00, problem is they come up very rarely,  maybe twice, three times inthe last year. I don['t have an original, the guy I bought mine from made one out of clear acrylic, it will do the job until I can get one fabricated.

Both Funtronics and Soda Jerk works both carry the cap catchers, I know for sure Soda Jerks carries a metal one for $27.50  (I've seen them in fiberglass)

When ambition allows, I'll post you pics and dimensions of my bottle holder.

Eric from Global Compressors can advise you on the motor,(yeah, i need to write Eric also). As much as I prefer trying to keep a machine as original as possible, sometimes it's cheaper and safer to replace with a modern unit.

Kilroy,
I think what DLeppik has is an electric Westinghouse - not the Vendo Junior. My understanding is that this cooler did not have the Vendo coin operated top - instead it was just an electrically cooled free vend cooler - Westinghouse just put a refrigeration unit into an ice cooler basically. DLeppik asked about the embossed lid and the Vendo did not have one - just the coin tower.
I have never seen one, but this is what I think it is. I do not know if it had a rack like the Vendo Junior.
I have the name of the eBay seller with the racks. Not the cleanest job though - welds bumpy, etc., but beggars can't be choosers. Fun-Tronics used to sell a repop rack. I'd check with Ebner.
