So i've seen you guys mention a vintage soda machine value guide type thing for machine values where do you get that?
I know browsing ebay and craigslist will show me what people are trying to sell things for but you can't always find every machine that way...and i'm sure some of the machines are WAY over priced....
so where do you get you estimated values from?

Petretti's Coca Cola Collectibles Price Guide will give estimates on signs, coasters, belt buckles - you name it. He also has Collectible Soda Pop guides (other brands besides Coke) and others I'm sure. For machines, Jeff Walters published a Classic Soda Machines guide - Steve Ebner (Fun-Tronics) also has a soda machine value guide in print.

Steve's guide is only for post 1960's machines. I Use jeff Walters 3rd edition guide. You can find them on ebay every now and then. Just make sure you get the 3rd edition. The prices are not 100% but it isn't a bad reference to use as a guideline. Also the size and weight information has been a great help for me in the past.

That is correct. Steve Ebner's guide that Dr Galaga posted a pic of is post 1960. Jeff Walters book is pre 1960. It is a good book. Like I said you can't follow the prices 100% of the time but it is a really good ballpark. For the common stuff the best guide is just watching ebay.

I don't own Ebner's book, but it seems odd that it would be for post 1960's machines and have a cover that shows mainly 1950's machines. I have been thinking of getting it also for a while now - hmm maybe a Christmas suggestion.

Yep Ebners first edition book was pre 1960 and the second edition is 1960+. I haven't been able to find the first edition. It has been out of print for a long time. But now that I think of it Ebners book itself does not have values. It just has information. It comes with a list of machines with their values and it was for all machines but the book and price guide is for Coke only. Walters book covers Coke, Pepsi, 7 Up, RC, and Dr Pepper, and a few other brands for the ideal sliders and Quikolds.

To sum things up...
Steve Ebner published two books: one covered pre 1960 machines/coolers manufactured only for Caca-Cola, first edition and the other covers post 1960 machines/coolers manufactered for Coca-Cola, thus the second edition
Jeff Walters offered three books that covered a variety of soda brands including Coca-Cola. These books aren't limited to machines/coolers manufactured for any one particular soda brand.
Shameless plug... '> Both the Second Edition of Steve Ebner's book and Third Edition of Jeff Walter's book are available on this Site in our SMC Vending Shop under Literature --> Books
