I am looking for a lightup Coca Cola sign for a 56 square top... Style doesn't really matter.. the machine is sitting on my patio, and I think it would look cool at night with the lightup sign... Can door light just isn't enough..

Good point Bubba. I have a Cavalier 64 that also would look better lit up.
Now we all can find 1/8" white plexiglass, all the decals....... and even a floresent light to fit behind the sign!  So why can't we make our own signs?

Answer:    Because of the sign frame.

I seem to remember seeing aluminum picture frame kits, ready to cut with corner attachments. Great start.!!!

Any guys or gals here know of a better idea or product? Or......anyone here want to produce frames for small uprights to sell?  Looks to be a large upcomming market!

Think Josh just had the frame made at the local hobby/craft store.

I remember Josh making his own signs, but it was before I got here.. I searched a bit, but didn't come up with the thread... I have a 56 sign from my RC machine that I can copy.. My 63 also lights up, so I have those measurements as well. My USS doesn't light up, but I have the measurements of the metal sign that I may be able to do something with... now all I need is time '<img'>

Yep!!! I just take the old metal sign to Michaels craft store and have them cut me a frame the size of the metal sign. They have one frame that is identical to the origionals. I then take the frame to a sign shop and have them cut the sign and vinyl for me. If you have a michaels craft store local you can find 25% off frame cupons in the sunday paper all the time. With the cupon it is about $25 to $30 for the frame. I know I have posted these before but here are some pics of what the sign and frame look like. This light up sign came from Funtronics. They silk screned and nice but they say copywrite 1999 in small letters on them.

I made the sign below for my beer machine with a frame kit from a craft store.  Cut the frame to fit and then used one piece of white plexi glass for the decal to stick too, then another clear piece of glass as a cover.   I also added a small flourecent light behind from Home Depot, it's very simple to create a light up sign.

If you want to do a cheap custom sign, I have had Kinko's create a backlit sign for me and I just taped it to the back side of the plexi-glass or glass.

Josh,
The framed from Michaels do not have a groove for the sign gasket - do they? Does the sign fit snugly without it or did you have to have it cut slightly larger? Maybe the bolt holds it tight? If it was in the least bit loose, it seems to me that it might rattle a little when the compressor runs?

They have these little spring things that go in the space between the back sign and the frame. It hold them in really tight. I then use foam gasket in between the frame and the machine.

bubba, tell me what size the opening is,  I have two one is really nice and the other is faded pretty bad but the frame is good.  Let me know what size the opening is and I will see if either one of these would fit.
