I have always thought that the only chest cooler I would like to own was the Westinghouse WD-5 dry cooler, but I have never found one close to me and all I have seen on eBay usually go for $500 and with shipping - too much for me. Well, I put in a bid on one earlier today and I was the only one that bid (I'm a little shocked at that).

I emailed the seller earlier this week and got extra pictures and he also said that there was no rust through that he could see. There is no compressor cover (It looks like there was one originally, so if anybody has an extra, let me know), but the cap catcher and line cover are there and I believe the inside is complete. I think it will restore nicely.

Here is the auction
attached are two extra pics he sent me.

I grew up near its location. Bids may have been kept down because it was listed as local pick-up only.

I usually don't pay a lot of attention to that. North American Van lines will call, pick it up and load it. Sellers usually put that in because they don't want to have anything to do with crating, loading or shipping large items. I have bought several machines that say that. If he balks on me, then I will have eBay mutually dissolve the deal.

It will probably be ok.  I just bet that is why other people didn't bid.

Ive bought several across the country that way, North American does a great job. Congrats on the cooler its a nice size. I seen one a few years ago at a swap meet but it was to far gone to do anything with. Also thanks for the link I ordered the decal today.

I PayPal'd right away and sent the seller an email. They just responded with a positive OK and gave me the address and a cell phone contact number. So all is a go! '<img'>

Walter's gives it a book value of $550 and I'll be about $450 plus cost of a back cover. Not an unbelievable deal, but pretty darn good for being across the country from me. I just hope it is in the condition seller said - all that I can see looks good.

Just heard about this site Uship.com

List the item you need moved and truckers on that route can submit their best price to you. They also have feedback ratings.
I have not used this service yet, so let us all know if it works out.
