Hey Guys,
I have found a stoner candy machine thats rather old and looks pretty nice. I know it would help if I had a picture, but I didn't have a camera. It's about 5ft tall with six selections, a mirrored face on the top, 5 cent dial selector, few dings. Would it be worth aleast $175.00, I'm not familar enough with them to know.

A six pull It's worth about $500 unrestored.....
I missed one a Christmas in Kansas and it went for $475 unrestored... I've been watching as I really want one... there
have been a few on eBay and again around $500 has been the range maybe a little higher depending on location restored
they go $1500+... If you can get it for a $175 you stealing it!
Don't know if I understand the dial selector thing though...
Is that on the side?.....

Good Luck!

Gotta edit this... just re-reading your question just 5 feet
tall?.. I think the junior is taller than that around 6 (taller than a 56 rt.... there are a couple guys on here that can help
Brian restores quite a few stoners.....

Does it look like this one?

Yes it looks much like it. Except the mirror has chrome trim around top, bottom, and left side, but none on the right. Looks as though it is correct. It does also look shorter. I can look over the top of it and I'm 6'. What is the dial to the left side there?

The dial is for Lifesavers, gum, etc.
You turn the dial to your selection and then pull the knob on the left.

I have seen the type you describe, but have no idea whether it is from the same time period or has the same value. I think it would be worth the $175 though.

Jerry:

It is a Stoner 180 .  It has chrome on 3 of the 4 sides. It was manufactured by Stoner during the early 50s to about 1959.  Hope that helps.  I own one and I like the way it looks.  I will post some pictures next week if you would like to see it restored.

The guy said $175 would be fine because he didn't care about owning the machine, but wanted to verify with his wife that she also didn't mind seeing it go. Well it wasn't the wife this time. He saw one on the net for $3500 and decided he would be stupid to sell it, except for a much higher figure. Never said how much though?'<img'> So I'm out of luck! Did however, buy an American Standard scale that tells your weight and fortune, for a penny.

Cool deal on the scale... I have the same problem with a Stoner here in Missouri , ran an ad
a older couple called, went to look at it...it's a lot like the 180 maybe a theatre version...anyway
base is burried in the dirt out in the shed.... said they checked the web and saw them going for
4-5 thousand dollars! Ha!!! Now this has 3 knobs chewed off by raccoons or rats, surafce rust but the mirror with the
reverse lettering is pefect... for now.... Oh well....that was a nice 1.5 hour trip wasted... maybe next time.

Jerry,
Great job on the scale!! Glad he didn't see an over-restored been listed 58 times example for insane money on the web. eBay, Barret-Jackson etc.. provide a baseline but sure get the folks with "not quite's" thinking they have hit the jackpot. Again congrats and would like to see some pics if possible.
Thanks,
Creighton
