Well I am back from my trip to Singapore and Thailand. I had a great time. Singapore is the cleanest city I have ever seen and Thailand is the dirtiest. We were in Phuket which was hit hard last year. The best thing is all soda is still in glass bottles and made with sugar. I drank my weight in Pepsi, coke and 7up. I also found this cool sign. It was outside of a building that used to be a bar but is now a drycleaner. I asked the lady if she would sell it to me and she was really set on keeping it. Finally after bugging her for a while and not getting anywhere I decided to try flasing some money. I offered her $1,500 baht (about $30 US) and her eyes got as big as dinner plates and she even helped us get it off the building. I know it isn't collectable or anything as the sign is made of corragated plastic but I thought this would be a cool souviner. I also brought back a few bottles.

Here are pics of the bottles. The one on the left I found in an antique store in Singapore. It is a bottle from the 50's from before they were liberated from the malay's. I didn't bring back a Coke due to the fact that they refill the heck out of the bottles and I couldn't find one worth bringing back. The diving was great. We were on a live aboard boat in the Similian Islands for 5 days. We dove 4 dives per day. I have to say that the carribbean is slightly better diving due to the better visibility but the creatures are way different in Asia. We say two Manta Rays one of them was huge. It was about 30 to 35 feet from wingtip to wingtip. We saw several sea snakes, more eals than you can count. Several lion fish wich are only on that side of the world. We found a friendly sea turtle that we fed bananas. and some people saw a whale shark but I missed it. All together it was a great trip. It is now 3am and my body is telling me it is 2pm. Jet lag is harder than I thought.

Wlcome back Josh! Good to hear that you had a great trip. I would have to agree about the cleanliness issues between the two countries. Singapore is absolutely wonderful. Thailand is awesom in it's own very special way but being clean isn't part of that equation!! '<img'>

I've been to Pattaya Beach and Phuket and really enjoyed both. I guess when I was there I hacn't really been bitten by the Soda Pop bug yet and really didn't take notice of glass bottles.

'Kito - Have you been to Kauai before? I hope you have great time. It's a good time. When I was stationed at Pearl Harbor and had friends ask me which of the islands was the best in my opinion, I always said Kauai. To me, It's the most beautiful and also has quite a bit to do.

I have been there several times and absolutely love it each time.
Perfect for a relaxing time for the whole family.
We will be at a beautiful hotel right on Poipu Beach, which really is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Can't wait!
I'll post a few pics when I get back. I don't leave for another 2 weeks.

Josh you brought back some cool souvenirs.
