Because I could not restore it and have it vend, I took the top off and have found a practical use for it.  As you all know, it would have been a crime to have the Vendo 59 sit out and rot for another 35 years.  The insides and the condensor deck were at time, under water,  The metal was still restorable after all those years but the mech gears were rotted together.  I tried to make lemonade out of lemons.  I get as many complimates on the table as any thing else I have ever restored.  The kids love it.  I used rope lighting to show off the embossed lettering.  The paint job turned out awesome. I use the opening to store the poker chips and cards etc.  I used  diamond plate to make the door.  The octagon poker table was made from plans I picked up off the internet.  Let me know if anyone would like to see what the table looks like from the top view.

Now, I wish I could get me 16 year old son to stop playing cards in his spare time and help me do a little sandblasting.

Here is the poker table view from the top.  I used "bar top" to cover the cards.  The cards are inside the clear finsh.  It's pretty cool.  I like it better in my game room then in a swamp.

MoonDawg--Do you have pics of your Decorator before you parted it out?

As you see below I managed to break apart the lovely plastic cover.  I'm sure the skin on my knuckles will return from prying the cover off and using a screwdriver to get under it.  What I'm thinking of doing now is finding either 1/32" galvanized duct steel for the front.  If I manage that I can slide it right in the channel the plastic was in on the sides and top.  I've also started shaving the foam down to get it level and smooth with the edges.  I've found a business right by me that can do up to 35" wide graphics full color for $5.00 per sq/ft.  Is that a good price?  That would allow me to get some pics and have them printed on a sticky vinyl and help me bring this machine into this millenium.

      Glad you are doing this, you may save more of these from ill fate.  Once you have a new skin made you could paint it first and reduce your graphics cost.
       How are you going to shave that insulation?

MoonDawg I thought that you had changed the appearance that's all.

As for shaving it I started by playing with a hack saw blade just to see how it will look.  I like the idea of a hot blade but I may also try some longer blade or a plane.  It don't have to be perfect just flat enough for the cover to slide in place.  With this being a 69-70 machine I was thinking on labels from that time frame and giving it an update by maybe a look of an upper and lower on the door with a PEPSI logo on the top section and maybe emblems of coin return etc on the door itself to create a look of a machine but alot smaller.  Just a thought.
