Cavalier 72 help!!

I'm just finishing up a restoration (my first) of my C-72 that's been out of service for over 30 years. The coin mech was missing, so I've installed a Coinco S75-9400B. All lights, switches, solenoid, etc., seems to be working properly. Here's the problem (and I was confused when I took this apart 6 months ago): I don't think I have the ratchet dog/ratchet lock assembled correctly. The bottles can be pulled from the vend assembly at any time. I don't understand what is supposed to "lock" the vend assembly. I also do not understand what should contact the switch which lights the "Have a Coke" light. There is no mechanical parts even remotely close to the switch. I've gone over and over the (poor) exploded view in the manual. And, I am a competent mechanic. What am I missing '>  Thanks!

Do you see the little triangular cutout?  You are missing the T shaped plate that does 2 things. When forward it allows you to vend and signals the light. When back it locks all vending.

Yes, I wondered why the triangle cutout was there. But I'm looking at my "vending mech. assembly" drawing, and I don't see any parts I don't have. Maybe I have the ratchet dog, or the ratched lock release, installed wrong?
YES! YES! I had the ratchet dog in flat, rather than at a 90!! Thank you. The "triangle cutout" was the big clue. Oddly, the view in the book does NOT show the triangles! THANK YOU!!

for those of you who are wondering what the heck we're talking about.

 The "T' shaped plate or "paddle" as I've always called it, was missing, as moondawg said, heres a basic drawing, it does two things, it locks the vending stacks' ratchet, until it's pulled forward by the soleniod, this will light the "Have-a-Coke" lamp (if so equipt.) tell the coinmech that it isn't to accept another coin, (the machine has a "credit") & unlocks the vending stacks ratchet, until the bottle is removed, & thus resetting the vending ratchet, re-locking the stack, turning "Off" the "Have-a-Coke" lamp, & signaling the coinmech that the machines ready for another coin.

Not in the manual!? Surely not! :'>  The original service manuals were more geared towards basic repair and large item replacement, not "component" leve work. If the vending stack broke, don't waste time trying to find the tiny broken part, replace the entire stack!

The same goes for most refrigeration decks, basic troubleshooting but usually after 3 or 4 checks for continuity or to see if your overload relay is working and...Replace the deck!
