I have a Pepsi machine (La Crosse LCV 212) with a Coinco changer.  I don't know exactly what model changer it is but it has the jones plug, dispenses nickels only, and the price can be set from .00-.75 in .05 increments.  The other day I went out and all the nickels were in the change return slot.  I was hoping it was a fluke so I put all the nickels back in the tubes and when I went to get a pop the next time after .25 it tripped the vend relay (It is set to .50).  I made a selection and tried it again.  This time I put in .75 before it tripped the vend relay.  Then it gave me back about .45 in change.  After doing a few times, sometimes it gave me .25 sometimes almost 2.00 in change after making a selection.  It worked fine two weeks ago.  For now I unplugged the coin changer.  When I want a pop I just plug in the changer.  When I do, it trips the vend relay and tries to give me change.  I say tries because I don't have any nickels in the tubes right now.  Anyone with any ideas if the changer is worth fixing or what to look for?

If it's not a relatively easy fix, could be a job for JohnieG as he rebuilds these.

Oh yea, Welcome to the SMC Discussion Areas!

Yes, welcome! ':drinkers:'  You might also want to keep your eye on ebay or even try to free vend switch! http://soda-machines.com/cgi-loc....6;t=871

Thanks for the welcome and the information.  I will keep JohnieG in mind.

I also saw the thread about the free vend switch (that is was I was looking for when I found the discussion board).  I am planning on doing that but I want the machine funtional to accept coins too.  I think I found a changer on ebay for $35 including shipping so I hope that works out.

Sounds about right.  Can you post a picture of your machine? We all love to see what each other has.  I have a (sorry looking) LaCrosse.  I have a picture over here: http://soda-machines.com/cgi-loc....;t=2880
I'm thinking of fixing up, but the wife wants it "out of here!" ':p'

I don't have a pic of it with me but I will try and take on tonight sometime.  It isn't really in bad shape.  It needs cleaned up but it works.  Also looks like someone used it for target practice at on point but only put holes through the skin.  I have yet to find another one like it.

Hi & welcome aboard! Yep, sounds like your coinmech's logic board went south for a holiday, it's mis-reading the nickle switches "count" & it's thinking you've givin it too much money & kicking back the overpay to you in nickels (too bad it's not a slot machine!  ':p' ) the logic circut board can be repaired, or plan "B" is as you've done already, shop for a new (used) coinmech, & if you wish to have it repaired to have a spare around, feel free to email me & make arrangments...

& Yes, we'll keep bugging you until you post a picture of your machine!  ':<img:'>
