Markito , I see you listed as the only Upper Midwest member. Where are you located ?

Keith

Keith,
I'm in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area in Minnesota.
Where are you?

Until about a week ago (when sodacans joined) I had been the only Minnesotan here.

But I might as well be an Iowan (though I don't want to be one) because that seems to be where I end up driving long trips to pick up machines off eBay. Two weeks ago I drove all the way to the Iowa-Nebraska border and then right back home!

What's with Iowa having so many anyway? '<img'>

Hey, I'm late to this thread, but where'd Wichita fall in this chapter grouping?

I really like the idea about sharing leads on machines, helping on pickup, etc.  So many of these sellers (the individuals, at least) are intimidated by the thought of wrapping/palletizing/ shipping machines, it would be helpful to cover each others' back.  Besides, it seems that many machines seem to be regional, so if you have the misfortune of craving a particular make, the moving truck always seems to figure in.

Also - sticky topics -- faq's - wonderful idea.  There's a lot of good topics out there that come in handy later.  Shipping in particular is a real challenge.  Loman clued me into machinemovers - although the cost for my moves was $400 - and it sounds like there's others out there.  Maybe worth just having a standing topic of who uses what carrier, and what experience they're having.

Sounds like a lot of great ideas.  This site definitely has been a blast to be involved in, very helpful when tinkering with something as complex as some of these machines.

Ok,
This is already in Excel so it's easy to add info. How about this:

Western US:
Creighton, 38, Creighton Smith, San Jose, CA. Ship,

Where we have Login, Member Number, Real Name, City, State, and Ship for those who will pick-up and ship.

Creighton - for your list:

hartlenb, 537 (but I feel like a 439), Bryan Hartlen, Cave Creek AZ, will pick-up & will learn to ship

Markito,

I am in Antioch IL., right on the WI/IL border between Chicago and Milwaukee.  It seems that I am the only SMC member for miles.

Hi All,

I'll try and crank out a build tonight. Anybody care if I pull whatever names and towns that are in the posts on this thread?

For those on the first list and don't want anything added no need to respond. If you are want additions/subtractions please use the PM button below.

I'll post the list under a new thread "Smc chapters and members." Have a show this weekend but next week will put the XLS, and a TXT copy on a server and sort out how to post links to the files. Plenty of room on the server so we can park whatever else there as well (FAQ's, Diagrams etc..).
Basically a files section.

Jim is busy and I don't want to ask him to add any workload. Lot's of great resources here, bet we'll get everything sorted.

Ongoing shipping experiances post is a great idea. The UPS driver here is great, the FedEx guy is terrible. Maybe a post for FAQ's under construction as well.

Joesquid nailed the action items:
Point of Contact. I'll add a POC field. No way I'm putting emails. Phone #'s and such into this database unless requested. Idea's on how to be a POC and not get spammed/TM'd let us know :-)

Shipping and any FAQ/ how-to anybody wants to contribute.

Great work all!!
Creighton
PS, Bryan thanks! Can't figure out the 439 joke. Course 38 is a high estimate of my IQ on any given day :-)

Sorry folks, didn't get the build out. Set up for the show and had some oh s**t issues. Lot's of some product shipped to Pullap, WA. None here in San Jose. These things happen. I'm doing corrective action now.

Thanks so much Petey64!! Will be giving you a holler.

Creighton,

I know this may be a lot to ask; but if everyone goes to their comtrol panel, they can edit the information to include their real name and location. Only recently did I require a member's real name to be entered for registration. In the location field, just enter your complete address including zip code. Then I could run a query on the database and provide a complete list of names and addresses. The down side may be that I may not have a way to filter out the dead records, people that aren't participating. Let me know if you think this will expedite the process...

My six cents,

Jim
