Vending question

I have a square top 56.  When I purchase a coke and pull the bottle through the bottle stack the gate doesn’t release another drink unless I buy another drink.  I free vended the machine and the same thing.  Once I push the free vend button and pull my drink out the gate stays open until I press the free vend button again.  I installed a new solenoid from funtronics and it didn’t change anything.  Could anyone help?

 The problem is the bottle gates are not fully returning to 'home' position after each vend cycle.
 Remove the bottle stack, lubricate all moving parts in the rear, then test each vend gate manually.
(If necessary........add a spring).
