I am thinking of taking apart a bottle stack and painting or powder coating.  Is it a big pain?  Any tricks?  I tried searching and nothing popped up.  If no one knows of a good thread I will start one here and document how I do it as I know they are always an eyesore!

There are a lot of pieces but they come apart pretty easily.  just take some before pics so you can remeber how they go back together.  i would not paint or powdercoat the parts.  if you want to redo a stack you should have the parts zinc plated. there have been several threads that talk about the dos and don'ts of renovating one.  Really not too hard. Most everything except the bottlegates, springs, and screws get replated.  you can get new rivets to reconnect the bottle gates to the gate arms from several of the site vendors.  Just polish the bottle gates, they should clean up nicely

Here is one thread from a while back
