Wow...sad... reminds me when a friend's dad had an ENTIRE shed made from NOS 1960s Pepsi signs "When At Driving You're Tense" "A Pepsi Brake Makes Sense"  
it took probable 10 sets...

When he drove me out to see it I met his dad and he said "Oh I have 5 more sets in the barn"... still crated... So I got a set...
that was a long time ago...

Amazing that there are some folks that STILL don't know or see the value in this stuff... will all the TV shows, internet access...
bet we would be surprised at what is thrown out/trashed each year.

Why? Because people are Idiots, that's why....  contact him/her & notify them that they destroyed a $400+ sign and turned into a piece of CARP * (* dyslexia involved here, sorry  )

I doubt the seller turned it into a box and in the listing it says it was made "long ago". It could have been done 50+ years ago.

        Maybe it wasn't destruction?

        It's close to the same size as a case of bottles. The fabrication was done professionally.

        Maybe it was the Coca Cola company experimenting and they used one of their flawed signs? 

        Anyway, I'd sure like to hear the story!

Someone needed a box more than a sign. Used to see all kinds of make what I need with what have at the farm auctions.

I think it was pretty innovative. My grandfather had stuff like his. During the depression they made all sorts of useful things out of whatever they had, and advertising signs were easy to come by.
