Ideal 400M slider

Hi, I'm new to the site and am trying to restore an Ideal 400M slider that has been in the family for some time. Unfortunately it is missing the slider rack. This machine seems to be quite rare so am having trouble finding a replacement rack. Any for sale out there or something close that could be modified like an 85B or ? I have restored gas pumps, but this is the first soda machine so could use any and all help. Thanks

Hi. Welcome to the site.

I don't know if an 85 rack can be modified to fit a 400, but I don't have either.

I know someone in California who may have an 85 for sale, but I would need others to chime in to see if it could work for you. Shipping a big rack will not be cheap. Rack weighs about 35-40 pounds.

Thanks for the welcome and the quick reply. I live in So Cal so may not be too bad. The opening for the rack measures approx. 31 3/4" by 22". Any leads would be much appreciated.

Would anyone know if an Ideal 300 rack could be made to fit in the 400? The width is fairly close, but it is too long. Thought I might be able to shorten it. Thanks

         No problem shortening the rack as long as you don't have to remove the cross brace.

Thanks MoonDawg, you are right. I got an Ideal 300 and the rack needs to be shortened about 12" and then should fit right in. I'm going to sell the cap catcher and coin mechanism and wonder if this is the place to do it?

I might be interested in the coin mech your selling from the 400m.
Would you be able to send me a few pictures.
I am just coming to an end of my 400m restoration. Not a lot of info on the 400 out there!

I don't know what model of coin mech goes in the 400. I'm aware of a few, is there any way to know for sure?
I have the plate that attaches to the side with all the pre-drilled holes.
Would like to be 100% sure before I pull the trigger
You aware of any way to be sure what mech fits?

Post a few more pics .  On more common models the mechanisms are universal..
