Well I thought for sure I'd be coming home with a Seeburg 100c, seller said it worked fine. We played it a few times and everything seemed to work great and then all of a sudden it just stopped playing through the speaker. The record still played and functioned like it should but no sound through the speaker. Thoughts? I am trying to make a quick decision to go back and buy it and have the issue fixed or am I in for a giant can of worms?

My gut tells me to walk away but part of me says maybe it could be something simple?

I'm no Jukebox export, but could be something simple, or might need an amp rebuilt...

what I smell here is "DISCOUNT"!!!!  I'm sure an amp rebuild is $500 or more.. so knock that off sale price..

Tried the old it's broke and you must discount it to sell but the seller still wouldn't budge. He's firm at $1100, with it working I was all over it but now I am not so sure.

There are tons of variables with jukeboxes.  It could be as simple as a bad vacuum tube, or as invasive as an AMP rebuild .  John is correct a AMP rebuild shopped out will cost around $450 shipped both ways in which many cases the owner pays both.

Most Seeburg jukeboxes are sold never being touched.  I would countinue to work with the seller and advise him of the many variables with the project he is selling .  Your best leverage as a buyer is it's NOT working.

Things to check :

What type cartridge is in the tone arm ?  Is there a cartridge.  A working red head cartridge sells for $250 plus.

Does the animation motor work?  Are the plastic pilasters cracked or broken?  Condition of record rack, cover, and glass??  How is the cabinet, venneer?

Market on a complete 100 -C is around $750-975 untouched , not shopped out.

Thanks for the help Slapshot! Everything worked as it should except no sound through the speaker and meanwhile it was playing flawlessly moments before, I was just about to pull the cash out and then it stopped. The cabinet had been painted a long time ago but the glass and everything else was in great shape. I will keep working with the seller on it, thanks for all the help!

There is a small aux "pickup-input"cord that plugs into the AMP.  On ocsssion it can snag when opening the rear access panel.

Well I used some leverage with the seller and decided to take the chance on it. I wiggled the wire going into the amp and walla, works like a champ! Another project for down the road but will enjoy as is for now. Thanks for all the help!!!
