I have never been into signs that much, largely because I never felt confident enough to know if they were real or fake, and beyond that, their value, rarity, etc.   But I have wanted to find a coke button for the game room.  Found a 24" that I have a chance to pick up but have no idea on what a reasonable price would be.  Seller has had it laying around a while and wants to move it on.  It has a lot of blemishes but the color looks pretty good and I think its a good fit for a newbie sign guy like myself.  Can a couple of you experts out there give me an idea of a fair price would be?  Thanks!

Based on the chips in it , I'd say it's a porcelain button sign so I agree with Joey on the 350-450 range.. if you can get it for less than that it's a good deal..

you'll find painted ones of the same size but generally the porcelain ones will have higher value.

it's not too hard to tell a repop button from an original, just hold them and you'll know difference..

plus the only repops I've seen are 16" and some odd smaller sizes.. unaware of anything larger than 18" that just emerged, it's white with bottle and thin metal. or alum.

I think it also is a porcelain button, which makes it more valuable.  Porcelain also chips different than just paint, plus an original will be heavier with a different curve, and sound when you tap it.    I would offer $300-350 to start- the color looks good, and blemishes are part of its history/story.

Not yet, the guy who owns it is in another town and has a lot of other things going on right now so I am not being pushy, just letting him know I am interested when he gets around to it.  I think I will end up with the sign in due time.

If I remember these don't have any markings?

Trying to arrange delivery of the sign.  If all goes well, should have it tomorrow!

Got the sign today.  You are correct, it does not have any markings.  I would assume that these were made over a fairly long time period.  Any idea of the years of production on these and was the porcelain version the earlier style or were they made simultaneously with the painted ones?  I was never all that enthralled by signs, but now that I found my first one, I feel like I need a couple more.
