Your ballast must work if the bulb is lit. I agree with Josh, your starter isn't starting.  It's a little cannister that twists in like a lite bulb. Check contacts.
       I bought 6 starters FS-2,s at home depot last night for $1.29 each. Cost me more than $1.29 in gas to get there. A ballast was $5.00.
       If making a special trip to the store to replace a specific bulb, I now pay an additional $6.50 for the starter and ballast.
       Don't ya' hate spending $8.00 on a new bulb, only to have it blown out by a bad $5.00 ballast.  '>

Well the good news is that the 8 Watt bulb has worked perfectly eversince it first lit up. The bad news is that it is extremely bright in the sign. Who would have thought that just 8 Watts would be so bright. I suppose because it is 12 inches of light rather than just a tiny nightlight bulb or something.

Anyway, it is so bright that even with all of my gameroom lights on, it is distracting when trying to make shots while playing pool! Too bright.

Plus when all the lights are out in my basement, the 8 Watt sign is still so bright that from the top of my basement stairs, I keep thinking that I have left a ceiling light on.

I should take my CS-64C out to the New England coast to safely guide ships into shore!

I guess I will continue my search for an NOS old-school 3 Watt flourescent bulb.

Anyone have any from a parted out 1960's Cav.?

Funtronics has a replacement lamp for it but the catalog does not say the wattage. The part # is 16c on page 17. It costs $9.50.

Thanks Josh. I have the catalog and have bought parts from them in the past, but didn't think about going to them for bulbs.

well I called him at Fun-Tronics and for 12" flourescent bulbs, he only has 8 Watt ones. Oh well.
