As far as I remember nothing happened to him... Just got in over his head in that book
deal. I have a friend who pre-paid and lost the $45 or what ever it was for the book.
It was a shame it... He just shut it down with no warning. It was a great mag lots of
great info on machines and companies... Great stories.... When it first came out they did
a member of the month, a show and tell type thing.... pretty cool. Also had
want ads and for sale ads.
But I like this site much better....
It's great reading the stories and finds each day and seeing how you guys help each other and will literally be willing to drive here or there for each other......
There was a group called the “Magnificent Seven”, a group of seven guys who had great collections and well known in the magazine.... They were great guys and had great road trip stories and worked hard wheeling and dealing in the Hobby to build these collections.
I wish if they visit this site if they'd post some images of their collection and some “Find” stories for you new guys.....
But I also must say there are more than just seven guys here that are Magnificent in
helping out the new guys in this field of collecting.
I hit this site several times a day to see what you guys find and know.
Thanks for all the stories and helpful bits of info......

Club Soda's editor was Dan Kwate. I heard he was in Seattle with 40k of "our" book money. I was really shocked that he would do such a thing because he really seemed like a nice guy. Terry

Here is the cover of the premier issue of the clubs magazine when it originally was called the soda pop press and then later became club soda.
The original editor was Brian Stevens and later the magazine/club was handed over to Dan Kwate.
I had joined the club at the very begining of it when they where first promoting it at the Chicagoland show in November of 1995. On the front cover is a picture of my daughter holding a cherry smash dispenser that we had picked up at the show for $65.00.
The club/magazine was great and I always  looked forword to getting the next issue because there where many stories about the shows and peoples collections.Too bad it had ended the way it did.
I always wonder if any of these people(The Magnificent 7) that had these great collections still have them or if they are even in this hobby Anymore. Does any one know?

Thanks for the info, I missed out on that whole thing, so it's nice to see a cover. Cool that your daughter is on the cover.

Jay B. still collects... talked with him a few weeks back... I was looking for some parts.
Now he had a collection! Another M7... Bob King the mag did a feature on him I remember
another nice collection.
Don't know of any of them stop in here. Would love to see what they have now.

I have all my copies of the mag Including that one with your daughter Bireleys1
They had a lot of great info...
But stick around here.... This place is better.... News stories/finds everyday
and you don't have to wait a month for the next issue.

As for M7 members stopping by here I only know one of them Jay and have asked if he stops by he said he dose but not very often. I asked him about other M7 members and he is still in touch with a few of them but doesn’t think they stop by here. As for Jay’s collection he still has a very nice Soda Machine collection and his fountain dispenser collection makes mine look small.

Yes, I still have the cherry smash dispenser along with a couple other dispensers that I got good deals on at the show years back. I really haven't sold anything since I started collecting but as you guys know its really hard to let this stuff go once your hooked even though there is soda machines everywhere thinking that someday in your spare time you will restore them. But its getting to the point that I might have to thin out my collection a little because its hard to move around in my garage so I can finish restoring my car that I have been wanting to do the last 20 years.
So I might have to let a couple soda machines go some day '<img'>.
