Ideal 55 slider old filter/stainer and new filter drier

I'm getting ready to recharge the unit and have a couple questions. Is the factory strainer removable and if so should it be discarded when installing a new filter drier? I bought a Sporlan c-033 . Which is a 3 cubic inch size with 3/8 male tube threads. Will I need to add any extra refrigerate with the added drier?

it depends where the strainer is located in the system. if it is not connected to the cap tube it's ok to take it out but not necessary. the new filter dryer does not take a lot of refrigerant
