I have a Dixie Narco 312 that recently stopped cooling.  I just installed a 3 in 1, but I still have the same problem.  The fan runs fine, but the compressor makes a noise like it's starting and then stops after a few seconds.  I assume the compressor is on because it's shaking.  It does this every minute or two.

Any advice on what to look at next?  I've never actually had to repair a vending machine, so I might be missing something obvious.  I was thinking that the next part to replace would be the thermostat, but I'm not sure what part/model I need for that.  Is that a fairly universal part?  I'd appreciate any advice.

This all started when I moved the machine onto a stand (much tipping/jostling involved), so I wonder if some component didn't like that...

Yeah..220,221 whatever it takes.
Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon!
The Vendo V-83 is the '59 Edsel of the coke machine world. ;p
Spray painting does NOT restore a compressor
11 is louder than 10...
"Hope" is good, but it's not an action plan.

The compressors shot, so now you're in the market for a refurbished deck.  Luckily, Dixie narcos are plentiful & popular, many vending companys stock new replacement (the complete system) for around $300, you can find a used unit cheaper, but you are buying a " pig in a poke" with that option.

So... that's it?  No troubleshooting, just a classic case of dead compressor?

I don't think this machine is worth another $300.  Any value left in this thing?  I'll have to start looking for a new machine - preferably Dew or root beer.

Are there any dealers you'd recommend in the DC area?

That IS the troubleshooting. They are sealed compressors so there's nothing that you can do except replace it.
Save the lighted sign, coin mech and the fans. Maybe the lock assembly.

It's not difficult to find modern machines cheaply priced.
