After completing our small soda shop in our newly finished basement I told my wife you have to have a milkshake machine if you are going to have a soda shop.  On top of that it had to be a Hamilton Beach Triple head variety.  After a while she agreed and so a searching I went.   I was very lucky to come across a model 940 that appeared to be in great shape, working perfectly, not too far away and a decent price.   What I came to find out is it was in a BBQ shop about 1 hour outside of Raleigh.  The original owner who had no family had the restaurant for ever, but it had not been opened in some time (1980's).   The original owner had just died about 6 months ago and she was 102.  Because the store had not been open in some time and she had no family it really sat from the 80's until about 6 month ago.  The people who picked up this milkshake machine lived in the same town and were able to acquire it and a few other items.  When I saw the milkshake machine in person I could not believe what great shape it was in.   The porcelain had no damage and there were only a few scratches in the top.   Of course the 940 is not the early model (40DM), but in this condition it was an easy decision.   I purchased this just before Christmas and let's just say it probably got more work in the past month than what it had since it was at the BBQ store.  For those of you who have one of these I am sure you can confirm as I did that there is nothing like the flavor of a milkshake from one of these machines.   Pictures to come.
