That's why these type sales shouldn't be posted. Too many lurkers and usually someone here is already on it... it just messes up the sale for a member...
I think everyone here already uses Craigslist on a daily bases... no need to post.. Or if you think you need to let it be known get to know the members here
and send a PM to a close member... my 2 cents anyway.

           Thank you Eric.   happydrinkers

I guess I wonder why members are posting things in people home areas anyhow? I've had a couple of cases where a member actually called the seller and told them that they should double their asking price! Nice... Would love to return THAT favor.

He only wants serious buyers.  What other kind of buyers are there?

Well I talked to the seller, a real nice guy.
He admitted that he raised the price because of all the phone calls and e-mails he got overnight, as I had assumed.
But he also added that what was strange, was that all of those phone calls came from the same phone number...........
in Fresno California, 4 hours away.

Interesting!!! I sent the seller an email about how I thought he must be on a pipe dream for asking 5000.00 for an un-restored 81 B and his only reply back was, you must be that guy from Fresno.

Huh?

Disaster!

I never saw the original CL ad on Monday, I was only following it here throughout the day. I called the guy Tuesday afternoon. I told him I saw the ad early Monday but was too busy to call him so when I pulled the ad again to call him I saw that is was $5,000 but didn't remember it being that high. I had to let him talk for 10 minutes telling me just how rare and valuable this machine is blah, blah, blah. Once he got that out of his system I told him he had a $2,000 machine on a good day, probably closer to $1,500 - $1,800. He then admitted he know nothing about the machine. I told him my experience and also made it clear that I had no real interest in the machine. I said if I couldn't put the machine in my house I would only resell it. If it was a nice original or nicely restored then I would have a interest. He asked me over and over what my offer would be, I said if I owned it I would ask $2,200OBO and be lucky to hit $2,000. With that being said only if he was my neighbor I would offer $1,500 but being 2 hours away I was looking at $1,200 but it wasn't a firm offer because I knew he would never go for that.

So I asked why the raise in price? He said one guy kept on calling him, texting him, and e-mailing him begging to buy the machine. All morning long. He offered $600 then went up a little from there. The seller then said he was getting calls from out of state so all of a sudden he thought he was sitting on a gold. He then said he would go as low as $3,500.

He text me today Friday saying that he decided to contact everybody who called on the machine to get their best offer, if it wasn't enough then he was taking it to a out of state auction. It was then I texted back saying he was wasting him time and now starting to waste mine. I told him just to sell the damn thing for $1,500 and move on. So I did give him my offer of $1. Unbelievable!!!

I think he should sell it to that overly excited Fresno guy who drove the price from $500 to $5000.   glare

Seems like every 6 months something like this plaques the site for about (2) weeks!

There is nothing we can do to get around this.  I know for several of us very devoted members that contribute everyday to the site we will usually share a lead like this to a close by member.

It's a difficult to manage since we have an open forum.  I would hope in the future with a little bit stricter moderation this thread could either be locked, moved into a more private section on the site, or just simply deleted.

At this point there is NOTHING really valuable to read. It's just a thread that everyone is now viewing to see what people are saying!  500 views in 3 days.

I hope these are some of the changes that we are anxiously waiting for on this site here in 2016!!

Posting these ads usually doesn't help anyone... it just hurts the chances for members already working on the deal...We all use craigslist.
This machine is a good example.. again see a ad and think you have to tell someone send a PM to a member that is in the area.
Sorry you West coast guys got a bad deal... there will be others... just hope they don't get posted here.
