I'd make sure it came back to me in the condition it left before you send full refund.
And he should eat the shipping for the return... that should be on him.
Sorry to hear all this... sounds like he changed his mind and is looking for a way out
and his $300 back

I had an issue through PayPal last week, and they found in my favor without much trouble.
If the guy is a d&@k, you don't win emotionally anyway. Be sure you respond to PayPal, or call them like I did and ask their advice. Hopefully you'll get a rep in the US.

Make sure the machine is complete and in the same condition, before sending refund.
