Has anyone found really old or even rare/valuable coins in their machines?  My father taught me as a kid (early 1980's) to pick out the silver coins in my change and put them away.  Back then, you might have a silver coin in a handful if you looked carefully.  Not true anymore of course, but maybe still true in the coin box of an old soda machine.  Come on fess up!

Found myself asking this same question about a year ago when I bought two old gumball machines with no keys that still had change in them.  Didn't find anything of real value; what was cooler was that keys from other machines I have worked in these.

I have found a few Mercury dimes, wheat pennies in a couple machines I've bought.. I've kept those. Now anytime I find a 1960s or older penny
or nickel when given change I put them in one of my gumball machines... The penny one is getting pretty full
as I've been doing it for years now... lots of wheat pennies.

I have found the occasional silver coin in different machines I have purchased, but the coin is usually in an obscure place.  For some reason I have had more luck finding coins in jukeboxes than soda machines.

I was working on a Coke 6CV one time and pulled the door liner off, it had over 30 silver dimes between the insulation and the main door. Someone was pushing the dimes in the main door latch. One of my better finds.

Found 30 mercury head dimes in a transitional machine a few years ago. Almost paid for the whole machine with that find!
