Hey Vendobaldtops, where in the Bay Area are you from? I'm originally from Palo Alto and miss it alot.  '<img'>  It's good to hear a story about the city and I can totally picture what you encountered!! That's a riot! '<img'>

Brian,

I am from Berkeley.   Grew up there and went to the University there.  After living in DC for two years (got my Masters) and working in Germany (Lars, we will have to touch base..I was in Munich and Frankfurt), I've settled back in Berkeley.  Can you blame me, it was 75 degrees yesterday!

I imagine you are a Stanford fan but I think our common base in soda machines erases those differences '<img'>   I am finding quite a few machines coming out of the Palo Alto area and farther south into San Jose.  In a previous post, I mentioned that a guy cleared out an old Grapette Bottling Plant in Redwood City a few mmonths back and I bought an 81D off a guy a few years ago that came out of a Stanford dorm.  I still shake my head on the Grapette one..with real estate prices being what they are here in the Bay Area..I can't believe that a family was doing nothing with their warehouse for 30 years...I think they just sold it for a couple of mil.  Anyway, that gives me more hope that some of the old factories and warehouses in Oakland and Richmond (where they built the Victory Ships) still have some machines sitting in them...if you come back to visit, let me know....there is an awesome swap meet on an old naval base out here that usually has a few coke machines, coolers, and signs....

Kito,

By the way...that was an amusing comment / swipe you made at San Francisco...I'll have to choose my words more carefully next time! '<img'>  Just kidding.  Have a great trip to Mexico, make sure to drink lots of tap water!  '<img'>

Yeah, I'm a Stanford Fan..... ':p'  Even though it was kinda cool when I was growing up...Our family dentist went to Berzerkly and could list on his resume that he was Oskie the Bear for his Jr. & Sr. year! We used to go to the "Big Game" every year! It was also pretty neat when they had the Superbowl at Stanford. Yeah, like I said before, I totally miss the Bay Area...

I assume the swap meet you are talking about takes place at the former Alameda Naval Station. That would be cool. I have every intention of getting back there in the very near future. I used to stomp around up there near Berkley (El Sobrante/El Cerrito).

There's just nothing like getting a steaming hot bowl of clam chowder in a sourdough breadbowl over near the piers in 'frisco.....<sigh> Anyways, good to see somebody in the Sovereign State of Northern California that shares "The Affliction" '<img'>

Just messin' with ya'.
Actually I absolutely LOVE San Francisco (and the whole area). I've been there a few times and it is my second favorite city in the whole country. I LOVE it there.

By the way, you San Fran guys have got to drop by my favorite San Francisco secret, a place called "Golden Boy Pizza". Oh man it is so good! It is a tiny little hole in the wall and caters to the tattoo'd, young and grungy, but YUM those rectangles of pizza are like Heaven!

It's in Northbeach at 542 Green St. (Grant Ave.)  at Jasper Alley.

Man I wish I were there right now. That's it, forget Mexico, I'm goin' to Golden Boy Pizza!

Kito, still rolling on the floor from that one. '<img'>

Moving a 110 is hard enough on flat land.  Hint: removing the door and shelves makes it a lot easier to carry down stairs

Hey Glen,

We did remove the front door and shelves and it still sucked...that #### door seemed to weigh more than the cabinet!

Kito, I'll will check out Golden Boy Pizza but my favorite is Zach's in Berkeley and Oakland.  If we every get enough bodys from SMC out here one day, we'll go there!

Brian, I am very familiar with El Cerrito and El Sobrante.  I used to have a place in Albany and hang out at the Ivy Room or IV Room as we referred to it after a long night....and Club Mallard.  Of course, you can't forget The Hotsy Totsy...
Brian, I'll buy you a beer at Ed's on Dam Road when you make it out here.

To the rest of SMC, we've gotten off topic a bit here, but it it just strengthens the SMC community...soon we'll have SMC chapters...I would volunteer for Bay Area chapter
