I had to share this story, fun finds from a local auction today.

There was an auction a couple towns over that had a Cavalier 72 and a mint fishtail Coke clock scheduled for 1pm on a Wednesday.  I figured I could grab the 72 for cheap and maybe the clock.  The 72 was 'unknown condition' with the bottom of the door rotted out and I set a top of $600 on it, ended up going to one other guy for $750.  I bid against the same guy for the clock and he was up to $250 before I pulled out, not much meat on the bone at that price.

I had seen a box of little hammers and tools that was auctioned off as leather working tools.  Very little action on it and I can always use a few new tools so I ended up paying $17.50 for the box.  The guy worked for the local Coke bottler and had a bunch of clothing so I picked up a racing jacket and one of the several pinstripe outfits for $30.  I was surprised that people were paying $50+ for the pinstripe outfits, I just waited until the last one went out and got it cheap.

Well I got the box of tools home and started pulling everything out, turns out it wasn't leather tools but ring/jewelry making tools instead.  The best part was there are a few boxes full of 14k gold stock for making rings, yellow gold/white gold/platinum solder, and some other parts that are right off the bat worth at least $1K just in scrap prices.   smile The tools are probably worth a few hundred as well, so I'm feeling pretty good tonight!  drinking drinking

Let's just say, my wife is much more supportive of me attending random auctions right now!  biggrin
